So, you may have noticed I haven't been blogging much recently. It's because I don't love you. No, not really. I've just been busy.
Anyway, every month the good folks over at NaBloMoPo send me an email inviting me to participate in their month-long themed blogging. The past few subjects have been lame, so I've ignored them. June's theme, however, is heroes. I can get on board with that.
I'm four days behind, so I'm going to throw a couple quick ones in to catch up, then I'm committed to the rest of the Hero Month.
Hero of the day: The guy that made "hero" the theme for June! Kudos to you, good sir. Or ma'am.

To Cheat or Not to Cheat
So, I totally neglected my blog and the ridiculous idea that I would blog everyday seems so... well, ridiculous. What ends up happening is I post youtube videos and lame three sentence blogs. That wasn't the idea at all.
I'm only 3 posts away from catching up, so at this point, I'll just fake three more and hope that I can keep up from here on out. Because, honestly, if it gets away from me again, I'm going to let it. (Wow, there are way too many commas in that sentence. Damn you, alcohols!)
Anyway, I think it's better to make decent posts at irregular intervals than to post shit every day just for the sake of posting. Ya know... quality over quantity.

Oh, NaBloPoMo....
January's theme is "change"? Really? That's the best you can come up with? That's soooo cliche.
In case you were wondering (because I've been majorly slacking), November didn't have a theme so December's was "thanks". Who wants to bet that February's theme is "love"?
Well, I guess I could actually complete a month of blogging (sans cheating) for a change. Maybe that's what they meant.
Maybe I'm just cranky because I'm sick. Really sick. I'm exhausted and sore and my sinus cavities are full and slightly painful. It's making me dumb and distractible. I spent over an hour at the HEB wandering around trying to remember what I went there to buy. And I left the house without my cell phone or wallet, luckily I had cash in my pocket.
The good news: the boogers are more yellow than green and my temperature, while slightly higher than 'normal', isn't technically a fever so I don't think it's anything that requires antibiotics.
I just used my favorite kitchen appliance to make the "Get Better NOW Smoothie" to end all "Get Better NOW Smoothies". Green tea, Acai Berry, Emergn-c, frozen strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, dewberries (they call them something else), apple juice, and half a banana. I figure a couple of those a day and I'll be fine in no time.

It's that time again...
November is National Blog Posting Month! I may have cheated my way through last year by post-dating and my attempt at Blog365 was an epic fail.... but this year, this year I will NaBloPoMo! (With minimal cheating)
I invite (read: call out) my friends with blogs to join me. I don't want to call out Sarah, because she recently surrendered her Blog365 run after 10 successful months. She says she's blogged out. But, I hope she reconsiders because even though I rarely commented, I really enjoyed reading it everyday.
I hope Jacey and Rhondy will participate... and I'm calling out John Mack to FINALLY create a blog after all the shit he's talked.
So, go here to register your blog and add it to the blogroll. If you don't want to play... at least throw me a comment here and there so I don't lose steam and phone it in like last year.

Dear Nablopomo,
What the hell?
I don't know if I'm down with this. I did find a website that allows you to record a message and it automatically posts it to your blog. Think of how much time I'll save by not spell-checking! But, I tend to ramble... I don't know.
I guess I could write in the voice of someone else... I don't know... I may just stick to the Blog365 and post whatever the hell I feel like.
Lame.

See post on the 18th for my voicepost test. Seems I somehow skipped that day, so I postdated it.
The theme for May is going to be VOICES. I think you can approach this in a few
different ways -- you can try writing in the voice or someone or something else;
you could invite other voices into your blog by interviewing people or, heck,
channelling them; or you could try your hand at podcasting, since we've always
wondered what your voice sounds like!

Dear Nablopomo,
Thank you for picking the theme of letters for the month of April. It is so much easier than last month. I promise to keep up with daily posting instead of making 15 posts in one day and editing the dates. I mean, as soon as I finish doing that now. Oops.

Reasons I'm Glad List Month is over
- I've discovered that sometimes I have more to say than a list can convey
- Coming up with subjects to list about is harder than I thought
- I never know whether to bullet or number my lists
- How many things must be included to be a list?

April's Theme
is letters! Reasons I'm excited about this:
- MUCH better than lists. I thought lists would be easy, I was wrong. I'm having a hell of a time coming up with shit to list.
- I have written blog posts in the form of letters before!
- I already have like ideas. I'm considering drafting them up now in case I get busy/writer's block next month I'll have some extras
- Lists suck.

Day One
List of reasons I like lists:
1. You can make short random statements and not elaborate.
2. Adding random things to lists makes me giggle.
3. Lists make you appear to be organized, even if that is not the case.
4. People are more likely to read a group of short statements than a long paragraph.
5. I am really good at counting.
7. Bananas are a good source of potassium.
8. I can usually form a list even when I don't have anything to say.

NaBloPoMo is back?!?
So, I think NaBloPoMo got a little jealous of Blog365 because they're launching a comeback. Every month they're going to have a topic/theme and you can choose to partcipate based on whether or not you feel you can blog every day of the month about that theme.
March's theme is lists. I can make a list every day for a month! Sweet.
And for the record: I have been writing every day. Just not on this blog. So, yea me!

It may or may not be April
Again with the cheating! I know, I know. I'm just really determined to make 365 blog posts (leap day was free. I mean, will be). I really think I would be more likely to post every day if I was caught up, and I don't want to fill the thirty some odd days with random pictures or one liners. I'm considering opening the LJ vault and lifting some old posts from there. It's less cheating than posting a picture...

Again with the cheatin'
So, it's actually March 24th. I've been neglecting the shit out of my Blog365 obligation. I just sat down and filled in holes for the entire month of March. For the record, I officially hate lists now.
If my calculations are correct, after completing this post I will need 43 more to catch up for the year. Wow. What the hell did I get myself into?
I'm determined to do this. Once I get caught up, it'll be easier to stay on track. And next month's (April, I'm writing this in March, remember?) theme is letters! I'm excited about that.
Also.... you all suck! I haven't received ANY freaking comments. Way to encourage me, guys.

Here I go again...
Ok. So, I've joined Blog 365. It basically boils down to blogging everyday in 2008- except for Feb 29, because then it would be Blog 366. Now, I know what you're thinking: why would someone who couldn't even complete NaBloPoMo without cheating attempt to go at it x 12?
Well, because Blog365 differs slightly from NaBloPoMo in a few key ways.
1. No stupid acronyms.
2. You don't have to post everyday.- they encourage using more than one blog... which is great because part of my problem with NaBloPoMo was finding tame enough subjects to post on this public blog. I can post on LJ, blogspot, twitter, myspace or even old school pen and paper. They even encourage editing dates to fill days that you didn't find time/had internet issues/whatever. How sweet is that?
3. They also encourage "non text" blogging. Pics, links, etc. Even more reason for me to get a camera phone.
So... there ya have it. I'm Blog 365in' it. Wish me luck and stay tuned. Comments (support) really comes in handy. Hint, hint. ;)

If ya ain't cheatin'...
... ya just ain't tryin'.
It has really been bothering me that I didn't finish NaBloMoPoFolooza. I was soooo freakin' close. Last weekend I had a house guest, then my internet access went haywire for a day or two, and then I had a few days of stress where I couldn't think of anything appropriate to write that wouldn't get me fired or arrested.
I thought I could pull it all together and knock out a few posts before the end of the month. But then something else happened, as it always does, but this something never happens: I was asked to join a friend for a few drinks. I look at my watch. It's the 30th... I need to go home and blog. But what kind of person would I be if I turned down an honest to goodness social outing to go home and blog?!?
So, needless to say, I met my friend-type people at the bar after work rather than going home and finishing NaBloMoPoShamaLamaDingDong. So, now... on December 5th... I shall finish what I started and due to the convenient editing options, I can make a post for every day in November... which is close enough for me. Better late than never, right?

Good news for people that can't put two and two together:
This whole NaBloPoMolooza means I'll be blogging EVERY DAY in November! Which means two things:
1. You should check my blog everyday
2. I may occasionally call you for help with ideas or "prompts" as we bloggers say.
I know what you're thinking, isn't that cheating? Well to that, I say this :
a) NO! This is my PG-13 public blog, which pretty much eliminates half of the things on my mind, and
b) in the words of Travis Duncan- "If ya ain't cheatin'... ya ain't tryin".

NaBloPoMolooza
OK, I added the "looza", but there's so much going on there, I don't think it matters. So, what the hell is NaBloPoMo, you ask?
It's quite possibly the worst acronym/abbreviation EVER and it's "short" for National Blog Posting Month. Which, oddly enough, consists of a nation of bloggers doin' what they do for a month. I jumped on the bandwagon, and you should too.
If you already have a blog, let me know and I'll link to you... you can return the favor if you like, if not, I'll allow that too. If you don't already have a blog there are a zillion (at press time) and a half places to get one. (Hint, you're on one right now.)
So, what the hell are you waitin' for?
